LOCATION: Syston

SALARY: Up to £40,000 per annum

HOURS: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week, hybrid working.

JR Personnel are an employment agency acting on behalf of a client who is looking for a Commercial Underwriter with excellent communication skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Underwriter who enjoys working in a friendly and close team environment.

The Opportunity:

Underwriting insurance policies and performance bonds for several industry sectors.

Role profile:

  • Managing the specialist broker channel within the portfolio.
  • Assessing, pricing and structuring new business opportunities.
  • Working as a New Business team to achieve an annual targets.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with specialist and general brokers; working proactively to identify opportunities.
  • Undertaking varied Marketing activities to highlight the brand and drive new business opportunities.
  • Discussing terms with brokers; presenting and negotiating terms with brokers to secure policy recommendations.
  • Attending new business presentations, highlighting the business strengths and tailoring to specific opportunities.

Person profile:

  • Presentation and Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
  • Good IT skills including data input, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good standard of written English.
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of insurance customers or brokers.
  • Strong logic / mathematical skills.
  • Full driving licence.

Essential criteria:

  • Due to the location and occasional travel, candidates must drive and have own transport.
